What “surplus” means here
Anything idle, inefficient, or treated as a burden in place A, and genuinely wanted in place B.
- Space — Orchards, fish ponds, drying yards, unused farmhouses, empty parking
- Capacity — Fruit that will not be picked, eggs that will not be sold, land that will not be planted
- Time — Rural older labor, returnees with spare days, weekends
- Skill — Village cooks, craftsmen; city skills that can travel to the village

- Pinduoduo / Douyin — They perfected shipped SKUs and live commerce. Youyu is for surplus that is only used when a person shows up.
- Xianyu / 58 — They sell information: you contact the other side yourself. Youyu sells fulfillment: clear price, escrow, someone accountable if it goes wrong.
